Message from the Director:Director Orbach

"Welcome to the Office of Science (SC) Restructuring Project web page.

This site is both an information center and a forum for two-way communications for SC and our stakeholders. It contains background information on the Project and project-related issues, a copy of the Restructuring Project Plan, project status reports, press releases, and information about the Project Team. Additionally, the question and answer section is an important way of keeping everyone informed.

The SC Restructuring Project is reflective of the changes envisioned by the President's Management Agenda, which is available for your review on this site's "Links" page. This agenda challenges everyone in government to do a better job of managing resources and producing results. It sets a course in which we are all called upon to strategically manage our human capital, seek increased competition in procurement, improve financial performance, expand e-business systems, and better integrate performance and budget decisions.

This Project will affect everyone in SC. It will succeed only with the talents and insights of the highly qualified, dedicated Federal employees who have helped make the SC science programs world leaders in the development of new knowledge and cutting edge science. I especially encourage you to use this site to stay informed about the Project's progress and to ask questions. We shall respond quickly and directly".

- Dr. Raymond Orbach, Director
